Yukino Inamine, aka Sanshin Girl, is the inheritor of a new generation of Okinawan Ryukyuan culture.
With a sanshin in her hand, a memento of her grandfather's, she sings from Okinawa to the world with her one and only soulful voice, capturing the hearts of listeners and not letting go.
The original song 'Miyagi Coast' featuring Kanta Otsuki (guitar) & Kaede (saxophone) is included in the album 'Kokoro no Neiro', released on CD and distribution in 2020.
For this single, the sanshin and vocals were newly recorded in a new take at the Harikuyamaku studio.
The song has been sung with great care at live performances in various parts of Japan over the past few years.
To live is to sing.
To sing is to live.
A favourite place that has been by my side at all times. This is a supreme Ryukyuan love song, the quintessence of Yukino Inamine, who sings about a heart that sways like a big ocean with a melancholy sanshin and her elongated voice, against the backdrop of a magnificent sunset and the sound of waves on the Miyagi Coast of Chatan Town, which she herself says is "my favourite place that has been on my side no matter how I feel".
CW/ includes a DUB remix by Osaka-based DJ/producer AKIO NAGASE, whose releases on London's EmotionalEspecial, Singapore's DarkerThanWax and Ground's Chillmountain Rec have also received high praise. Includes remixes. Includes vocals, sanshin and remix of the original song.
This nostalgic tropical DUB utilises the vocals and sanshin of the original song, with pleasant ambient synths and steel pan sounds.
The remix uses a different vocal take from the original.
Both tracks were mastered by Okinawan island DUB specialist HARIKUYAMAKU,
and the jacket design is by designer Anmmo, a childhood friend of Yukino Inamine.
