*"Ordinarily Good Songs"* is Ryoma Maeda's first full vocal-focused album.
Written and composed entirely by Ryoma Maeda himself, the album is a collection of songs performed entirely in Japanese, created with a pure focus on "melody" and "words."
The title *"Ordinarily Good Songs"* feels both casual and sincere at the same time.
Rather than relying on excessive messages or dramatic concepts, the album is centered around the simple idea of songs existing as songs.
For the lyrics, Maeda began from the feeling that he did not have some overwhelming inner message he urgently needed to express.
Instead, he drew inspiration from contemporary tanka poetry, constructing the lyrics through a process resembling mental sampling, slicing, and reconstruction of language fragments.
> I love the word "despair"
> And the word "disappointment" is like a friend to me
> Another careless day quietly passes by
> A peaceful timeline I honestly don't care about
> - from "Kuso Kietai"
Featured throughout the album is "EeL-roid," a vocaloid created from the past vocal recordings of female artist EeL.
Its voice, like the echo of a human memory, gives the songs a unique sense of distance and anonymity.
The arrangements are stripped down to the absolute minimum in order to highlight the songs and lyrics themselves.
Quiet and unadorned, the album captures a certain atmosphere of the present moment almost exactly as it is.
A trackmaker who cuts up primal impulses and nostalgia into dance music that can never be repeated _meticulous yet punk, emotional yet calculated. Ryoma Maeda works are filled with raw, unfiltered entertainment that breaks down all musical styles and turns them into beautiful fakes. His music sits somewhere between chaos and precision _ pop, electronic, and deeply human. His notable works include Fantastic Suicide, produced by his brother, Worlds End Girlfriend. The track [ Roll Over Beethoveeeen] from the same project has surpassed 800,000 streams on Spotify (as of April 2025), reaching listeners all over the world. Now based in Da Nang, Vietnam, Maeda continues to explore new soundscapes, creating resort _ inspired ambient music alongside his experimental pop productions expanding his universe of sound from Tokyo to tropical shores.
