Unable to find my place in this world, I became a wild thing.

ANEMONÉ returns with "King of the Wild Things," their second collaborative single with 4s4ki and maeshima soshi.

ANEMONÉ is a pop collective weaving together bittersweet sounds and emotions, bringing together a diverse range of creators for each release. Following their previous single "Mugicha," the collective reunites with 4s4ki, a pioneering figure in Japan's alternative and hyperpop scenes, and her longtime collaborator, producer maeshima soshi, for their new single "King of the Wild Things."

Suppressing your true self in an attempt to fit in. Fearing rejection, yet struggling to connect with others. Drawing from the emotional struggles and complicated relationships of adolescence, 4s4ki portrays these deeply personal experiences through the figure of a "wild thing."

The more you try to be yourself, the further you seem to drift from those around you. Unable to live by the same rules as everyone else, you begin to feel like a wild thing defying the order of the world. Yet within that isolation lies a contradiction: the strength to hold on to your true identity, and the vulnerability of desperately wanting to be understood. Through words that are both painfully honest and almost childlike in their innocence, the song captures the fragile complexity of these emotions.

Musically, the track builds upon an electronic foundation, intricately weaving ambient textures, birdsong, and environmental sounds into an expansive, cinematic soundscape. Embracing the evolving global landscape of alternative pop while blending it with the melodic beauty of Japanese pop music, ANEMONÉ creates a sonic world distinctly their own. 4s4ki's sharp yet delicate lyricism, maeshima soshi's forward-thinking production, and the emotionally expressive vocals of MioN, which vividly bring the song's story to life, come together to create a singular musical experience.

Longing to be loved, yet unwilling to give up who you truly are.

For every wild thing who has ever felt they didn't belong in this world.
