"Echo" was created in response to the "Dot"(2023). Recorded on the same day as "Dot" and with the same members, the album contains seven original songs with a highly narrative and colourful story, in contrast to the prose and monochrome world of "Dot". The whole album unfolds like a suite, responding to the co-performers and depicting a new world of Hitomi Nishiyama.
The piano trio teamed up with Toru Nishijima (bass) and Ryo Noritake (drums) forms the core of the album, Takanori Suzuki (clarinet) and Ryosuke Hashizume (saxophone) and maiko (violin) joining them, and the cooperation, touch and warmth of life emerges from the irregular combination of instruments. Twenty years after her first career album named "I'm Missing You", Nishiyama's devotion to European jazz, the heavy metal project NHORHM and her work on song projects have come to fruition in a work full of life, which powerfully expands the lyrical world she has cultivated up to now.
Hitomi Nishiyama is a pianist and composer active in Japan and abroad. After graduating from Osaka College of Music, she gravitated towards Enrico Pieranunzi, and was recognized by winning the Grand Prix at the 2005 Yokohama Jazz Promenade Jazz Competition, and made her debut in 2006 with the highly acclaimed album CUBIUM which was recorded in Sweden. In 2010, she won third prize in the jazz category at the International Songwriting Competition (USA). In 2015, she launched the project named NHORHM, a jazz piano trio covering classic heavy metal songs. The album series NEW HERITAGE OF REAL HEAVY METAL has become a genre-busting bestseller, endorsed by world-class heavy metal musicians. She is also known as a heavy metal writer and has written for several media. She has released 26 albums since her debut, with her own musical background in traditional jazz, European jazz and heavy metal, and a large following of music fans.
