One summer I spent a week in Azumino, Nagano. Surrounded on all sides by the Northern Alps, I took a walk every morning along the paths between rice fields where ripening ears swayed as far as the eye could see. A cool breeze gently embraced the growing grain, and the stalks rustled softly, playing the music of the countryside. Deeply moved by this scene-human wisdom creating sustenance for life, held within and moving in rhythm with the grandeur of nature-I composed this piece.

Tomoki Jiromaru
次郎丸智希作曲家・ピアニスト・朗読家。福岡出身。大阪大学文学部卒（音楽学）、同大学院修了（ドイツ文学）、神戸大学大学院人間発達環境学研究科・博士課程修了（人間表現専攻）博士（学術）。第17回万葉の歌音楽祭・大賞、第28回TIAA全日本作曲家コンクール（重唱・合唱の部）第1位受賞。文学と音楽両面からアプローチする独自の作風で多くの作品を発表。現在、フェリス女学院大学・グローバル教養学部・文化表現学科・音楽身体表現専攻・准教授、お茶の水女子大学講師。主な作品に、独唱・重唱・合唱のための《百人一首によるうた》《万葉名歌集》、カンタータ《まかる空～竹取物語より～》、ピアノ4手連弾のための《MUSEUM》他多数。研究論文『武満徹作品における音楽語法の変遷―SEAモティーフを中心に―』、『武満徹作品における引用～《夢の引用―Say sea, take me!―》を中心に～』『歌曲の実践と文芸』『武満徹の音楽語法「SEAモティーフ」の萌芽と生成　～《鳥は星形の庭に降りる（1977）》と《遠い呼び声の彼方へ！（1980）》の比較を通して～』
