"Oiran Reggae" is a fictional music project born from a simple idea:
What if reggae had existed during Japan's Edo period?
Inspired by oiran culture, Yoshiwara, and the nightlife of old Edo, the album blends reggae, ragga, dancehall, ska, and J-pop influences into a sound unlike anything that should have existed. Created by OOPARTS TRAX, a label dedicated to uncovering musical artifacts from impossible histories, this project explores a completely original musical world.
From the opening procession of the oiran to wild celebrations, midnight escapes, and the first light of dawn, "Oiran Reggae" is a 17-track concept album set in an alternate Edo timeline.
