"Uniform" is a song written by Japanese singer-songwriter UKI, inspired by a childhood friend who grew up playing softball alongside him and now competes as a member of Japan's national women's softball team.

While they chose different paths-one pursuing sports, the other music-the bond they shared on the field never disappeared. As life carried them in different directions, UKI found himself realizing just how important that friendship had always been.

The song began with a single line:

"A uniform of the heart should be covered in dirt."

For UKI, the uniforms that were stained with mud, soaked with sweat, and torn at the knees were the ones that felt the most genuine and beautiful. "Uniform" is a tribute to those who keep moving forward despite their struggles, believing that a life spent caring, trying, and fighting for something is far more meaningful than staying untouched.

Written and composed by UKI, the track features arrangements by Hiplin (known for "Kaerimichi feat. kojikoji"), alongside Madoromi and TO-me. The production gently supports the lyrics, allowing every emotion and word to be heard clearly.

The song closes not with lyrics, but with a simple "la-la-la" chorus-an invitation for listeners to sing together with the people they care about under the same wide sky.

In the final moments, UKI includes a real phrase he used to shout as a young infielder to the pitcher who inspired this song. Instead of ending with a poetic line, the last words are:

"Two outs!"

In softball and baseball, it means there is only one more out before the inning ends. But in this song, it also symbolizes being just one step away, one more try, one little push forward.

"Uniform" is UKI's heartfelt anthem for anyone who is still fighting, still believing, and still taking that next step.
