My Journey Through Illness and Recovery
Since I was a child, my neighbors praised me as a hardworking and capable person, often saying, "She's kind-hearted and strong." However, one day, I found myself unable to do many things. A blood test at the hospital revealed I had rhabdomyolysis, a side effect of statin medication.

Rhabdomyolysis is a condition where your muscles break down. It got so bad that I couldn't even open a plastic bottle cap. I had to crawl just to get to the bathroom. I used to meticulously clean high places using a stepladder, but I couldn't even climb one anymore. I became unable to do any housework, and it was so difficult that I even considered leaving home, feeling like I was useless.

Finding a New Way Forward
But then, I decided to entrust what I couldn't do myself to professionals. For example, I hired a professional for air conditioner cleaning. My husband also started helping out little by little during breaks from work. Through gradual effort and perseverance, I've reached where I am today. I believe everyone experiences something like this at some point, so I wrote a poem to ease my own painful feelings.

The Road to Recovery
Fortunately, once I stopped taking the statin medication, my muscles stopped breaking down. However, the muscle I lost has been slow to return. I'm already nearing 70, and I was prescribed statins because I was a bit plump with high cholesterol to begin with. Nevertheless, I can't just give up and stay in this "broken down" state. I'll continue to work hard to get back to my old self, for my husband's sake as well.
