Muten Roshi is a rapper who earned his Ph.D. in linguistics at a Japanese graduate school, while also teaching Japanese and foreign languages at university and running his own language school. What sparked his rap career was a simple invitation from his students: "Let's try rapping together." From November 2024, he began writing lyrics, and in 2025 he released his first EP, "Toppatsu (Breakthrough)." His lyrics avoid the conventional blood-stained street imagery that dominates the genre. Instead, they are imbued with poetic and literary resonance. The energy radiating from his words is unique and truly unlike anything else.
