Self-Portrait of Frozen Memories (feat. Synthesizer V AI Eri)

The original idea was inspired by the unique sense of time in Gus Van Sant's 2003 film "Elephant."

I'm particularly fond of the combination of beauty and strength in the orchestral pizzicato sounds, along with the serendipitous discovery of this chord progression and the simple melody on the piano. My admiration for pizzicato sounds largely stems from experiences listening to XTC's "Harvest Festival" and Aphex Twin's "Girl/boy," although I was previously captivated by Enya's "Orinoco Flow."

The lyrics originated from a nostalgia for my childhood, filled with numerous dreams, and the somewhat grim (yet simultaneously comical) confrontation with memories evoking how that younger self would perceive the present self. It also delves into reflections on past selves one might encounter at life's end, as well as the emotions the current self holds for the future self, exploring the chain of memories.

This song is an attempt to translate the clash between accumulated memories and those yet to be made into sound, embodying the space filled with intertwined emotions. Hence, the song incorporates elements like shoegaze or post-rock psychedelic noise guitars, accompanied by intense drums to enhance the trippy sensation, while intensifying its psychedelic essence.

My goal was to create a song that I could view as my equivalent of "A Day in the Life" within my own music. It might lean towards psychedelic and slightly progressive rock. I'm incredibly proud of this song. While its structure may feel forced at times, it represents the innocence I cherish in my expression.
