-- A roasted sweet potato made the world dance. --

It all started in a small corner of Niseko, Hokkaido.
A playful track written by Neko Sonic for a mobile roasted sweet potato stand, "IMOYA."
A bass-heavy reggae rhythm blasting from the speakers of a kei truck, cruising through snowy streets.

Before long, foreign tourists began to react.
They danced. They laughed. They pulled out their phones.

One of those videos crossed the ocean.

Within just two days of being posted on Instagram, it surpassed 12 million views.
The momentum didn't stop-eventually reaching around 20 million views.

From reggae artists in Jamaica to historians in the United States, and even fans across Northern Europe,
comments poured in from around the world:
"This is stuck in my head!"
"Japan did it again lol"
"This is insanely addictive!"

And that unforgettable phrase-
"GO YAKIIMO GO YAKIIMO GO"

You might not understand the meaning, but your body moves anyway.
Before you know it, you're singing along.

Answering the overwhelming demand of "Please release this!",
that once-casual jingle is finally out as an official track.

From a local kei truck... to timelines around the world.
A miraculous groove, carried on the smoke of roasted sweet potatoes, is here at last.

Artist Profile

  • NEKO SONIC BOOM

Heartwarming underground "Neko Sonic Boom," or "Neko Sonic" for short. He has no connection to the character from the famous "Battle Cats" series. In fact, we'd like to point out that he was the first to use the name. This is the solo project of singer-songwriter "Neko Sonic Boom," who has a long career as a rapper under a different name. He is also the leader of "Neko Sonic Group," a three-piece band from Hachioji that features 100% bespectacled members. Using a variety of vocal styles, including rap and singing, he creates music centered around hip-hop, reggae, and dance music. He also performs acoustic guitar solos. Neko Sonic's soft, cat-like voice and unique lyrics are sure to make you feel all fluffy. In addition, an Instagram post featuring "ISHI YAKI IMO," a song he wrote for IMOYA, a mobile roasted sweet potato vendor in Niseko, Hokkaido, has received over 17 million views (as of February 28, 2026). The song was met with rave reviews despite not yet been released.
