Armed with a DIY spirit, sharp lyrics, and down-to-earth realism, microM's latest work "PB2" is complete, continuing to run through rap and life.
The intro "PB2 Freestyle" loudly declares, "Even if I'm out of the mainstream, my music won't stop." As if to embody those words, this work is a conceptual work that depicts the distortions of modern times, personal conflicts, and the gap between dreams and reality through all 11 songs.
Although he faces the contradictions of society, he never becomes preachy because his perspective is that of a "person living." Among the diverse songs, such as the lead track "Maa Maa Maa... Ft. NASUKA," which races through frustration and hope with a reggaeton beat, "Misunderstanding Girl," which sharply satirizes the superficial desire for approval that spreads like a meme, and "Meniere," a love song that gently describes a night of tinnitus, all of them have a consistent message of "in your own place, with your own voice."
Don't miss the collaboration with fellow bandmates CHAMi, NASUKA, KOTA, and RENZAN. In particular, previously released tracks "Flashback," "Last Run," and "XX Gakki ni CD wa Mou Nai" each have themes of memory, separation, and modernity, resonating with microM's storytelling and adding depth to the story of the album.
The climax is "Desktop," which depicts a man facing music in front of a turned-on PC. It is surely an encouragement to someone out there who is about to start something new today.
"PB2" is a record of a life of music, dedicated to all "working everyday."
