This album is the debut work of a new unit consisting of three top players, Sumire Kuribayashi, Kazuma Fujimoto, and Takashi Sugawa, who exude a unique presence through their original performances. The sounds of the three players, who are well versed in the characteristics of acoustic sound, are neatly shaped in a space with plenty of space. Please enjoy the unique chemistry created by these leading personalities in the Japanese jazz scene.
Pianist, Composer.Her debut album won the Disc Grand Prix New Star Award in 2014. In 2018, she was featured on the cover of Jazz Life magazine. She has performed as a leader at the Hoxton Hall in London and the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, as well as touring Europe and Australia. Her unique expression, which is based on jazz but does not fit into any framework, is highly regarded. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she collaborated with artists from all over the world in the European improvisation community. Her remote recording album 'I will touch you' with Giuseppe Bassi was selected as one of the top 100 jazz albums in Italy in 2021. Her father is an Ikuta-ryu koto player.
Guitarist, Composer. In 1998, he formed the pop duo "orange pekoe" with vocalist Tomoko Nagashima. In 2002, their debut album, Organic Plastic Music, won numerous awards. Since 2011, he has concentrated on his solo career, releasing four instrumental albums: SUN DANCE (2011), Dialogues(2012), My Native Land (2014), and FLOW (2016). His music has earned wide recognition among jazz, classical, and world music listeners.
Takashi began his music career at age 11 playing classical cello, then switched to bass when he was 18. After graduated Berklee College of Music in 2006, Takashi moved to Brooklyn, NY., where he met Masabumi Kikuchi, whose music and art exerted a strong influence on Takashi. In 2009, Takashi left New York and returned to Japan, settling in Tokyo. He joined the Terumasa Hino Quintet in 2010 and had been become a regular member of the band for 6 years. Takashi is currently playing with several other bands as well, including the Kosuke Mine Quartet, Tamaya Honda Trio, Michiyo Yagi Trio, and Shun Ishiwaka Trio. He has performed at such jazz festivals as The Montreux (CH), Detroit (US), Tokyo Jazz (JP), Like a jazz machine fest (LU), Brisbane (AU) and the Mores Festival (DE) etc. Takashi's debut album CD "Outgrowing" was released in November 2018.In January 2020, "Time Remembered" by Masaki Hayashi (p) and Shun Ishiwaka (ds) by 'Banksia Trio' was released from Days of Delight.
