The fifth installment of Shin Kokawa's (SHIN KOKAWA) ambitious 13-week consecutive release project, "13artists x 3works."
This EP features Yusuke Oya (Polaris), a treasure of the Japanese indie-pop scene with a one-of-a-kind voice, and anzu, a multi-talented creator garnering attention for her transparent "chill voice."
The highlight is "Nocturne - 13x3 rework," a self-rework of the Polaris classic reconstructed by Oya himself for this project. Kokawa's organic drumming and anzu's modern texture breathe new life into the timeless melody.
The collaboration track "hush" depicts a scene of prayer moving through darkness toward light, while "Real dub" (featuring Yasutaka Okada of kott) invites listeners into sonic depths. An exquisite collaboration EP where generations and genres intersect to weave a single ray of light.

SHIN KOKAWA
In his pursuit of live drum expression, improvisational artist SHIN KOKAWA resonates with Japanese spirituality, including indigenous nature worship and the sublime concepts of Zen. He internalizes a diverse range of genres: free jazz, spiritual jazz, world music, ambient, and hardcore. By infusing the primitive, powerful, and beautiful sounds of his instruments with the raw intuition of the moment, he creates soundscapes that depict the vastness of the universe. Making his major debut as a founding member of the instrumental band jizue (founded in 2006), Kokawa has performed at numerous large-scale festivals in Japan and abroad, including the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL. Since embarking on a solo career in 2019, he has released his 1st album 'ANIMA' (2020) and a 2nd album 'touch the sub conscious' (2024), which features collaborations with renowned artists such as Seiichi Yamamoto, Shing02, and Shun Ishiwaka. He is also an active member of the Kyoto-based experimental band kott, with whom he performed at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2023. In 2026, he launched '13 ARTIST X 3 WORKS,' an ambitious project featuring collaborations with 13 different artists and 39 tracks to be released consecutively every week.

Yusuke Oya
Songwriter / Vocalist / Guitarist / Sound Producer Trained in classical music from early childhood, Yusuke Oya mastered the cello, piano, guitar, and electronic instruments before beginning his journey as a composer in middle school. After graduating from university, he made his professional debut in 1997 with the band LaB LIFE. In 2000, he formed the influential band Polaris with Yuzuru Kashiwabara. To date, they have released six full-length albums and have captivated audiences at numerous major outdoor festivals. In 2005, he also formed the special unit ohana alongside Takashi Nagazumi (Hanaregumi) and Ikuko Harada (Clammbon), releasing the album Ohana Hyakkei in 2006. Oya launched his solo career in 2007. In 2010, he initiated his solo project SPENCER, followed by the release of the eponymous album SPENCER in 2011. As a solo artist, he has collaborated with many musicians and has performed extensively across Europe and Asia. Recent Highlights: 2018: Polaris released Tentai, their first album in over three years. 2019: Released his first solo cover album STEREO; Polaris released the EP Hikari. 2020: Released the cover album STEREO #2. 2021-2022: Released his first series of original digital singles as a solo artist. 2023: Performed at Fuji Rock Festival for the 7th time (his first appearance in 7 years). 2025: While actively performing solo lives globally and producing other artists, he announced the restart of Polaris in October. He also launched the solo live series "only play 'Polaris'," featuring a repertoire exclusively composed of Polaris songs. Beyond his primary musical career, Oya is a versatile creator whose work spans music production and songwriting for other artists, film and video scores, commercial music, and professional narration.
anzu
anzu is the solo project of Anzu Kawai. Beginning her activities in late 2016, she has developed a signature sound that fuses electronica and acoustics with her unique and captivating "chill voice." She is a multi-talented creator who personally oversees a wide range of artistic expressions, from her own music and jacket artwork to video production. Following her major debut through Tokuma Japan Communications on December 22, 2021, she released her latest mini-album, "flow," on November 1, 2025.
