'OL' = Office Lady is so yesterday. 'OL' = Own Life!!

Reiwa Fushoji is a "Special Unincorporated Entity" operating under the motto: "We undertake the task of burning off (OTAKIAGE) your frustrations." They transform the everyday struggles of workers into music, sublimating their grievances through their signature ritual.

The theme of their 4th single is the uniquely Japanese label "OL" (Office Lady). This track redefines "OL"-a label constructed by society-into "Own Life," a declaration of taking the helm of one's own destiny.

The sound is a modern evolution of 90s J-POP trance, a genre that symbolized the era when women's lifestyles began to rapidly diversify. As the lyrics proclaim: "Before I am an Office Lady, I want to be a human."

Gracefully brushing off office gossip and the judgment of others, this track transforms even solitude into a tailwind. A cool yet passionate empowerment anthem dedicated to everyone struggling with the gap between "who they are expected to be" and "who they truly want to be."

Artist Profile

  • reiwa fushoji

We take on the job of burning away the frustrations of working people. This is a new audience-participation music project that turns the frustrations and struggles of modern workers into songs. The group is led by Sekine, the sound producer of the electro unit Satellite Young, together with Hibiya who performs as the vocalist and main character. During live shows, additional members appear as the Reiwa Fushōji Dance Division to enhance the performance. A short video series featuring Hibiya the Employee handing out tissues on the street to collect everyday complaints, known as Troubles Collection, went viral and surpassed eight million views, drawing wide attention on social media. Since its launch in 2024, the project has released singles including TO ME TE: The I Want to Quit My Job Song and OZ: The Old Man Song. At their first live appearance at Design Festa vol.60, they combined music with theatrical skits and captivated the audience with a surreal and satirical world.
