Prepared Wave

Motohiro Kawashima, who worked alongside Yuzo Koshiro on the music for Sega's Bare Knuckle series in the 1990s, releases his first solo mini-album.

"Prepared Wave" is an homage to the Prepared Piano concept devised by John Cage, one of the most iconic composers of the 20th century. By repeatedly editing and processing waveforms from analog synthesizers and various sampled noises, the sound image is thoroughly deformed and reshaped.

It incorporates elements from the 1990s club music scene, including techno, electro, drum and bass, ambient, trance, and abstract music, as well as touches of contemporary and experimental music.

Interpreting the "Cage" in John Cage's name as a birdcage, the work explores the theme of "a soul awakening within a cage," delving into musical emotion amidst metallic soundscapes and themes of liberation from confinement.

The music video for "Urban Delusion" is a collaborative work with filmmaker Norihiro Yamamoto. A monolith from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey appears in Akihabara, blending surrealism with urban life.
