Photosynthesis (KOUGOUSEI) [2025 Remaster]

This song was written during the period between the first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time, I had just moved from the countryside where there were no cases to the city, where infections were rapidly rising. Without a stable job, I spent my days going to the employment office, picking up day labor gigs, and wondering when life would ever feel normal again. I was also being supported by my then-girlfriend, now wife, and living every second with a constant sense of unease.
Those feelings are deeply reflected in the lyrics.

Five years later, in August 2024, I performed an acoustic version of the song for the first time at Azuma's project, "Akalan."
After that, I reworked the melody, and now, I'm excited to finally release the fully arranged version.

This track also holds a special place in my heart as it was the very first song I created when we launched the Cork ONGAKU-SAI YouTube channel.

For this release, I asked Ryoto to handle the bass, drums, and arrangement, giving the song a new, powerful energy.
I hope you'll feel both the past and the present versions of myself as you listen.
