"Zutto Soba ni Ite -Roots Edition-" is a newly re-recorded version of "Zutto Soba ni Ite," originally released in 1998 as the third single on New Taurus Records.
While the previously released version featured additional lyrics by Kanata Asamizu, this new recording retains the original direction while being reconstructed around more personal and heartfelt emotions.
Back then, the song reflected a view of love shaped by youth and the sensitivity of being in one's twenties. Now, after the passage of time, VINYL brings new depth and definition to those same emotions. Expanded expression and life experience have given the theme a far stronger sense of realism and emotional weight.
Feelings for someone precious, the passing of time, and an almost painful sense of longing - all of these are portrayed through unembellished words and sound, making this work truly worthy of being called a "return to the roots."
In particular, the ending guitar solo serves as the emotional climax of the song, where lyricism and raw passion intertwine to define the track's emotional core.
The recording also features performances by highly accomplished musicians, whose powerful yet delicate arrangements further enhance the emotional depth of the piece.
VINYL: Yoshihito Fukui (Vocals) / Shin Suzuki (Guitar) A two-member Japanese visual rock band. VINYL was formed in June 1995 when Yoshihito Fukui (formerly of D'ERLANGER / STRAWBERRY FIELDS) and Shin Suzuki (formerly of Kuroyume) met and decided to create the band. In May 1996, they participated with the track "BE" on the omnibus album "LEMONed - Collected by hide" produced by hide of X JAPAN. In September, they performed at the "HIDE INDIAN SUMMER SPECIAL" at Chiba Marine Stadium, gaining significant attention. In September 1997, VINYL held their first one-man show at Nissin Power Station, and in November they made their major debut with the single "Tomaranai Kodou." Their sound blends emotive vocals with powerful guitar work and sharp arrangements, establishing a unique presence in the early Visual Kei scene. After pausing activities in 2000, the members continued solo projects, band work, and charity activities. In 2024, they resumed activity after a long hiatus, kicking off a new chapter with the re-recorded track "BE" integrating live performances, recordings, and visual art. With the belief of "carving emotions into sound," the guitar conveys melodies of pain, joy, conflict, and hope, working with the vocals to powerfully shape the ever-evolving sound of VINYL.
