Standing apart… on the peaks of Inaba…

The salt wind of Suma brushed our bare skin that night

Matsukaze and Murasame, tangled in my arms

Your breath hot against my neck, the room heavy with us

Those wild, unrestrained days… I can never forget

My lord… don’t let me go tonight

Let your fingers lose themselves in Murasame’s hair

Every time your lips trace the curve of my throat

My body softens… and I almost disappear

Yukihira… don’t leave us behind

The fire that burned until dawn still lives in my bones

Three of us moving as one, skin against skin

That heat is the only home I’ve ever known

Parting draws near… this ache in my chest

Still… I will wait for you

Though I must leave for the mountains of Inaba

If I hear the pine is waiting… like you

I will return at once

Matsukaze… Murasame… wait for me

Your hands mapping every secret of my skin

Murasame’s soft voice overlapping mine

Those reckless nights we shared, three hearts, one flame

Even now my body aches… remembering your name

Like the pine on Inaba’s peak that waits through every season

My heart is tangled forever in the two of you

No matter how far I am forced to go

This depth of love… will never run dry

Matsukaze: My lord… give me this last night

Murasame: … don’t let us go

Yukihira: The moment I hear you are waiting… I will come back

Though I must leave for the mountains of Inaba

If I hear the pine is waiting… like you

I will return…

Matsukaze and Murasame… you are everything I am

I will come back for you

……Wait for me……

……Wait for me……

This 16th poem of the Hyakunin Isshu is reborn as a sweet, intoxicatingly sultry, conversational love song between three voices. It paints a vivid picture of Yukihira and the two sisters in Suma-their wildly unconventional, fiercely erotic days together, the agonizing pain of their separation, and the burning vows they made to reunite, all depicted through raw, unapologetically mature scenes.

It is a highly emotional, stylishly produced track where courtly elegance and raw eroticism intertwine, leaving a profound and lingering afterglow, brought to you by Twilight Master.

Chunagon Yukihira (818-893) was a prominent Heian aristocrat and poet, the elder brother of the legendary Ariwara no Narihira.

Officially, this waka was composed upon his departure for Inaba Province. However, folklore whispers that it was truly written for two sisters, Moshiho and Kofuji-whom he affectionately named Matsukaze (Pine Wind) and Murasame (Autumn Rain)-during his exile in Suma.
The poem's brilliance lies in the kakekotoba (pivot word) "matsu," meaning both "pine tree" and "to wait." It elegantly entrusts his sorrow of parting and a fierce promise to return to the natural imagery of the pines. It is a quintessential Heian love poem, flawlessly merging aristocratic sensuality with the transience of life.
