Artist Profile

  • okkaaa

okkaaa is a musician born in 1999, known for a sound that traverses whispery vocals, ambient textures, and a folk-like tactility, capturing subtle dissonances of everyday life and emotions that resist language. In 2019, the track "City City" charted on Spotify's Viral Chart and was featured on the cover of the platform's emerging artist program "Early Noise." The same year, okkaaa won the Grand Prize at Enter Tech Lab's "CHACCA CHALLEGE," establishing an early presence within the scene. In 2020, okkaaa made an independent debut through Caroline International Japan, releasing the single "CODE" and the EP "ID20." The same year, okkaaa was selected as one of the featured artists in Music Magazine (September 2020 issue) for the special feature "The New Generation of Japanese Music 2020," gaining critical recognition. In recent years, okkaaa released the work "Kiteki Monologue," which connects electro-folk and dance pop. The project presents a distinct sense of distance that combines the intimacy of bedroom pop with a vast, almost cosmic spatiality, deepening a musical approach where introspection and physicality emerge simultaneously. Starting from type-beat-based production, okkaaa has transitioned toward a more compositional approach centered on original vocals and sound design, drawing from alternative R&B and electronica.
