Singer/rapper mezz and rapper Sad Kid Yaz come together for an amapiano collaboration love song.
mezz, who bridges bilingual English-Japanese delivery with the melodic sensibility of 2000s J-POP and contemporary club music, meets Sad Kid Yaz, whose effortlessly listenable flow is laced with a rough-edged, one-of-a-kind humor. Two artists with contrasting approaches - and from that contrast, a track emerges carrying an urgency that feels unmistakably real.
The production comes from audiot909, a pioneer of Japan's amapiano scene whose previous collaboration with mezz, "Touch," made considerable waves. The genre's signature log drum groove and melodic piano work - rooted in South African dance music - prove a perfect match for a song where sweetness and longing exist side by side.
The title says it all: that feeling of someone you simply can't stop thinking about, every hour of every day. The two artists deliver those emotional nuances with a lightness that never quite hides how personal it feels. Carried by audiot909's refined groove, "24/7" marks a new chapter in the Japanese love song.
