A new milestone in contemporary modal/spiritual jazz is born. An overwhelmingly beautiful soundscape of rich emotion and inner energy.
The album "Fukushima" by the Tokyo-based sextet led by saxophonist/flutist Shinsuke Fujieda is a truly timeless masterpiece that inherits the spirit of the modal\/spiritual jazz of the 1970s while exquisitely blending classical, world music and oriental elements. The sound is unique.
The modal jazz of "Fukushima (edit)" is led by a flowing piano, "Float In Oriental Spring (edit)" has an oriental feel, "Silent Night (edit)" has a pleasant groove created by a tight rhythm and a supple bass line, and "Soprano Soprano (edit)" has an elegant string sound and a soprano soprano soprano soprano soprano soprano. The classical 'Nobody Knows (edit)' blends elegant strings with a soprano saxophone and 'Perspective (album ver)' is a spiritual jazz piece with sharp percussion. This is a superb album of sophistication and passion, built by the Sinsuke Fujieda Group.

SINSUKE FUJIEDA GROUP is a jazz ensemble based in Tokyo, led by saxophonist, flutist and composer Sinsuke Fujieda. Rooted in modal and spiritual jazz, the group brings Fujieda's original compositions to life through improvisation and the interplay of its musicians. Lyrical melodies woven by saxophone, flute and violin meet propulsive grooves and open-ended development, combining a distinctive compositional voice with the spontaneity of a living ensemble. Released on vinyl by France's Superfly Records in 2025, FUKUSHIMA reached No. 1 on Juno Records' Jazz Chart and Discogs' Best-Selling New Releases Chart. By 2026, cumulative vinyl pressings had reached 9,000 copies. The group also performed at THE PALACE OF WONDER at Fuji Rock Festival in 2025. On 7 October 2026, Fujieda's independent label SoFa Records will release INFORMEL, a double LP that reimagines a 2020 Tokyo live performance from the group's present perspective, tracing its musical roots through a newly reconstructed work.
