Ross Moody will release their new single Running Down The Hallway on Wednesday, February 25.

Having restarted as their original sibling duo, Ross Moody follow up their previous single with this new release. The track boldly incorporates elements of city pop through a groove-driven production by Keita Kobayashi, interwoven with Kobamuta's unadorned, earnest rapping and vocals. Together, they create a uniquely Ross Moody sound-nostalgic, gentle, and warmly enveloping-unfolding a world that feels both familiar and intimate.

"Running down the hallway" was co-written by Kobamuta and Keita Kobayashi, with lyrics written by Kobamuta. The song began as a demo recorded by Kobamuta on an iPhone voice memo, which Keita Kobayashi later developed into the final track. Recording took place in Kobamuta's bedroom, which the two brothers use as their workspace, and Keita Kobayashi handled both mixing and mastering. While the song is rich with city pop influences, Ross Moody reinterpret the genre through their own lens, giving rise to a new, close-to-home city pop landscape filled with warmth and familiarity.

Regarding the lyrics, Kobamuta comments:
"I wrote the song while recalling those attention-seeking boys in junior high school who would shout loudly or run around trying to stand out. I wanted to express the sadness of that misunderstanding-how girls don't actually find them cool, but are instead put off by it."

  • Ross Moody

A sibling band consisting of singer Kobamuta and track maker Keita Kobayashi. They released their debut album What Murdered Me in 2019, followed by the mixtape Without Schools: The Mixtape in 2020 and the album A Farewell to Nostalgia in 2022. Their work gained attention for Kobamuta's distinctive vocals and poetic, playful rap style, combined with Keita Kobayashi's experimental production built on intricate sampling and collage techniques. In 2023, the project expanded its lineup and released the EP Love Spread, marking a shift toward a more musical sound centered on vocals and live instrumentation. After subsequent lineup changes, the band has continued to develop a unique sonic identity shaped by the brothers' shared sensibility - crafting intimate, warm tracks paired with engaging vocals.
