"Squat & Bounce"

"Squat & Bounce" is the fifth track from Karada de Asobou ("Let's Play With Our Bodies"), a movement-and-bonding album created for children aged 0-3 and the adults who play alongside them.

Built around a warm bassline and a gentle funk groove, the song turns simple up-and-down movements into playful exploration: getting small, getting tall, bending the knees, standing, and reaching upward.

Adults can demonstrate the movements slowly in front of the child, using playful cues such as "small!" and "big!" while watching and responding to the child's reactions. For younger babies who are not yet standing, simply watching, moving their arms and legs, or responding with sounds and expressions is perfectly fine. Children who can stand can explore squatting, standing, reaching, and gentle bouncing at their own pace.

The "Stop & Go" sections invite everyone to pause. After a quiet moment, "Ready... up!" starts the movement again, creating opportunities to connect listening, watching, imitation, movement, and shared attention.

Physical activity during early childhood provides valuable opportunities for children to experience different kinds of movement. At the same time, development varies from child to child. This song is not designed to make children achieve a particular physical milestone. Instead, it encourages adults to notice and celebrate each child's own curiosity and willingness to move.

Get small, get tall.
Squat, stand, stretch.
Every little bounce is a chance to play together.
