For Tokyo-born rapper spada, this long-awaited single marks his first release in approximately a year and a half.
Over the years, he has struggled with the distance and resolution between the music he listens to in his everyday life and the tracks he has created himself, as well as with differences in how an entire song is constructed. This resulted in a recurring cycle in which he found it difficult to genuinely like his own finished work. While he was able to produce similar-sounding tracks, he knew that doing so would not lead to any clear evolution-only the feeling of treading water in the same place. Confronting that inner conflict, spada dug deeper into what he truly wanted to pursue, stepping forward in search of new elements and perspectives. This track is the outcome of that process.
That atmosphere is crystallized into sound through the total production of 5OULCHILD. Hailing from Okinawa, the singer also serves as the creative director and producer, overseeing the entire vision while handling everything from arrangement and engineering to mixing and mastering. Centered on a handcrafted approach to sound, every detail is meticulously designed-from the attack and color of each note to its decay, the resonance between sounds, and even the humidity of the space-resulting in a solitary soundscape that resists easy classification by genre or trend.
