Song of the People Front Cover

People

kneeking Records

From ancient days, the voices carry on

Silent prayers still linger in the wind

Climbing mountains, crossing endless seas

Tilling the earth beneath the open sky

Where we're from, or what we choose to believe

Doesn't have to keep us apart

You are you, and I am me

Let us meet with open hearts

Sing it out

A song that carries memories through time

Different languages, different prayers rise

Yet every tear is warmed by the same love

Sing it out

A song passed from one life to the next

One world, many people

It's our differences that make this world so beautiful

Kindness never asks where we're from

A stranger's love once carried me through the night

Living here beneath the very same sky

Even strangers' hearts can learn to change

Different skin, different names for God

Don't ever have to keep us apart

You are you, and I am me

Let us laugh and walk as one

Sing it out

A song from every mother to her child

Different stories, different histories

Yet every hope is closer than we know

Sing it out

Not a banner raised for war or pride

One world, many people

May we become the light that guides each other home

Our heritage is never a wall

Our heritage is never a weapon

The sky has never drawn a border

The wind has never carried a passport

Sing it out

A song that echoes through a thousand years

Different languages, different prayers rise

Every single voice is shaping tomorrow

Sing it out

The song that joins your heart with mine

One world, many people

Still different, still hand in hand

Because we're different, love can grow

Until the whole world sings as one

One world, many people

Song of the People / Kneeking Records

Peoplehood is not meant to create division. It is the inheritance of culture, history, and prayer, passed from one generation to the next.

This song was inspired by the definitions of *people* found in three Japanese dictionaries, as well as by a personal experience.

While taking pride in being Japanese, I was deeply moved by the honesty and kindness of people from another country. That experience led me to realize that kindness knows no ethnicity. It also reminded me that we are shaped not only by our bloodlines or national borders, but also by the people we meet and the places where we live.

Built on a foundation of reggae, enriched with the warmth of soul and gospel, Song of the People celebrates the beauty of recognizing our differences rather than erasing them.

One world, many people.
Our differences make this world beautiful.
