If I Were a Bird

KYOKASHO RECORDS

If I were a bird, I would fly to every friend

— "I am a bird," said Bird. "And I walked with you to the end."

If I could sing in every language, I would sing to everyone

If I had a thousand years, I would learn them one by one

I wish the world were smaller. I wish the night were short

— "But then," said Bird, "no journey. No story. No airport."

The inventor who believed the unusual was true

Came up with a lamp that burned rainwater-bright

"Think outside the box," he said, "and the box thinks too."

Probably impossible — until it worked one night

If I were braver, if I were taller, if I were more —

But "more" is a door that opens from in here

Words are power. Words are light

I wish — and then I work. And the wish comes near

If everyone delivered one kind thing a day

The consumer of sadness would run out of stock

A sustainable heart is a battery that stays —

Charged by a second chance, a toy, a friend, a talk

I wish you were here — the ones we've met along the way

The chef, the host, the doctor, the man who walked

If this song could reach you… — "It can," said Bird. "Today

A wish that turns to work is a word that talked."

If I were braver — I am braver than before

If I were taller — look, I'm standing at the door

Words are power. Words are light

We wished. And then we worked. And here we are. And there is more

If I were a bird… — "You are," said Bird. "Inside

Everyone who sings has wings. Now — fly. And I'll fly beside."

Sentanbun - Movement 3: Words Have Stayed

    KYOKASHO RECORDS

WORD WORLD (Uta-tan) Disc 3 "Grade 9"

An album where every word and grammar point from the junior-high English textbook becomes a lyric. Built around Japan's NEW HORIZON 3 curriculum, with cross-reference tables for other major textbooks on every track page.

All 12 songs form a graduation album: in their third spring, the world finally comes to Kai, Bird, and Mina. The musical backbone is choir - the one form of music every Japanese ninth-grader shares. Present perfect looks back on three years, relative clauses call old friends home, the subjunctive mood turns toward hope, and the final track brings everyone back to the melody of Track 1.

Track 13, "Sentanbun (Movement 3)," is a bonus track that packs all 419 words of the third-year vocabulary list into a single six-and-a-half-minute song. Across all three grades, the trilogy covers Japan's full 1,486-word junior-high vocabulary in about 19 minutes total.
