Overview:
In terms of musical composition, the EP features a vibrant and bright style influenced by both major Japanese rock bands and indie alternative rock bands. The songs combine unique and engaging structures with pleasant sounds that aim to maintain the listener's interest.
Ensemble:
Vocals: Strong low-mid range vocals
Guitars: Two guitars with unique phrasing centered around the pentatonic scale, without being confined to backing or lead roles
Bass: A bass that maintains a rudimentary and linear low sound while occasionally playing high fret regions
Drums: Drums that are familiar yet unconventional
This combination creates a distinctive sound that eagerly pursues the best elements of alternative rock.
Lyrics:
The lyrics, penned by the guitarist-vocalist, showcase an introspective and literary style. Themes include youth poverty, space, illness, anxiety about the future, and moratorium. The songs tackle conflicting concepts such as positivity and negativity, hope and resignation, and infinity and finitude, all while maintaining these oppositions within a single piece.
Artist Profile
THE YUINOWS
Formed on April 6, 2021. On March 23, 2025, they released and began streaming their first official recording, the EP Base U. Musically, their style is characterized by a bright and energetic sound that aims to combine distinctive song structures that do not tire the listener with a pleasing texture. While strongly influenced by both major rock bands and indie alternative rock bands in Japan, their compositions establish a unique identity. The ensemble consists of vocals that project powerfully in the low and middle ranges, two guitars built around pentatonic scales yet refusing to fall into a simple backing and lead division, instead creating straightforward but distinctive phrasing, a bass that maintains a raw and driving low end while at key moments repeating figures in higher positions, and drums that are familiar to the ear yet avoid rigid formulas. Altogether, the band pursues with intensity the most compelling aspects of alternative rock. Lyrically, the songs written by the guitarist and vocalist are marked by an introspective and literary style. Drawing on motifs such as youth poverty, the universe, illness, anxiety about tomorrow, and the moratorium of adolescence, each piece consistently explores opposing concepts such as positivity and negativity, hope and resignation, infinity and limitation, establishing these contradictions as central themes within a single track.
