Silent Night - Celtic Whistles Collection Vol.21

One of the most famous Christmas carols in the world, "Silent Night," is performed here as an ensemble of two tin whistles, a low whistle, and an Irish flute.
"Silent Night" is a Christmas carol that originated in the small Austrian village of Oberndorf. It was first performed on December 24, 1818, at a Christmas Eve mass in St. Nicholas Church.
After the church organ was damaged by flooding during the summer and could not be repaired in time for Christmas, Father Joseph Mohr (lyrics) and Franz Xaver Gruber (music) hastily performed the piece with guitar accompaniment, which marked its beginning.
It was introduced to Japan during the Meiji period as a Protestant hymn and has since become widely used as background music for Christmas and church settings. It is recognized by Guinness World Records as the most recorded Christmas song and has been translated into more than 233 languages.
