From Yokohama, Japan, music producer and recording engineer Yuji Tamura is set to release Lanes' new single "Customs," following his January release after a 5-year absence titled "Things Will Be Done Before You Come."

Unlike his previous work co-produced with Collin Davis from Stones Throw Studio in California, this single was recorded and mixed solely by Tamura at his home studio. The drum-less ambient folk rock features organic, robust acoustic guitar strokes and the resonant ambience of digital synths.

Despite its simple composition and structure, one can still observe the influence of deep harmonies and catchiness from 60s American music like Beach Boys and Curt Boettcher. The chord progression swings between unsettling and euphoric, and the lush reverb together immerse listeners in a psychedelic soundscape.

Tamura joined as a recording engineer and a guitarist for "abstract post-punk" band Pot-pourri's latest single "Y" in May. He has also recorded and produced various underground forward-thinking bands for years, such as alternative band Mizuirazu, slowcore band Pause, scum-psych improvisation band John Tremendous' Soft Adult Explosion -- establishing a distinct philosophy of music production in Tokyo underground scene.
