"Cafe Notes" is an album created to commemorate the 10th anniversary of "Nekko Cafe," a coffee shop located in Ekoda, Nerima Ward, Tokyo.

The first track, "Cafe Notes -Chatting Coffee Beans," is the title song originally produced for the cafe's 5th anniversary.
It features the sounds of grinding and dripping coffee beans, the rustle of nuts rolling in a bowl while baking sweets, and more...
This is music that makes you crave a delicious cup of coffee, born from the various "Cafe Notes" recorded at Nekko Cafe.

The second track, "the Warm Welcome from the Oven," is a new song created specially for the 10th anniversary. Biscotti, brownies, muffins, cookies, and more! The aroma of freshly baked sweets fills the cafe. This blissful atmosphere is expressed through the tones of guitars and lutes.

The jacket illustration is by the illustrator mofuwa, a regular at Nekko Cafe along with Kimura.

This album expresses the cafe, which is always filled with delicious aromas and lively conversations, created by two people who love Nekko Cafe.

    Yumi KIMURA is a composer and Doctor of Arts who creates music inspired by everyday soundscapes, such as birdsong, the sound of brewing coffee, and other environmental sounds. She transforms the natural scales and rhythms found in these sounds into compositions with a distinctive atmospheric quality. Her versatile approach spans chamber music, orchestral works, traditional Japanese instruments, world music, and electronic compositions using DAW technology. / KIMURA provides musical arrangements for a diverse range of performers, organizations, and projects, including stage music for Japanese dance performances, sound design for visual works and exhibitions, and collaborations with classical and Japanese music performers and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. / At the "BEAT GRAND PRIX MUSEUM 2022," supported by TuneCore Japan, her music video "Voice of Crane," inspired by the crane migration in Izumi City, Kagoshima, was selected as a finalist. / For the "SOUND SEEK" event -organized by Nomura Kogei and selected by Tokyo's Digital Innovation City initiative- she created sound productions using the "Auris" audio MR system. Featuring tracks from her latest album "the sounds of neighborhood," this project delivered an immersive musical experience capturing the multisensory atmosphere of urban spaces. Drawing on insights from her academic research, she continues to explore new possibilities in music while uncovering the potential of sounds hidden in everyday life.
