SOHOBUNE

The strong rhythmic pattern of the boat's paddles is the result of the inspiration from the longing to return home to one's family in the boat as soon as possible, as expressed in the Manyoshu. When I stayed in the Netherlands for a long period of time for our performance, I felt the very same feeling as I looked up at the Japanese plane taking off from Schiphol Airport. This piece is a rooters' song for all those who are making efforts outside of their hometowns. While the heavy bass sound of the large group of drums (means external pressure), the tightening drum (means individual steps) is set to a single player to create a contrast.
