Artist Profile

  • Fried Banana Shop

Fried Banana Shop is a three-piece band formed during the gloomy days of the COVID-19 pandemic by music lovers who met in the same neighborhood. Composed of Ryuju (founder of the creative collective w.a.u), guitarist Tomo, and saxophonist Yoji, the group is currently active across Tokyo's live houses and club scene. Rooted in Jazz, R&B, and Rock, they craft a warm, soft soundscape through their unique reinterpretation of dream pop and alternative jazz. They also actively collaborate with various vocalists and rappers, presenting a genreless, crossover musicality that goes beyond the traditional band framework. In club environments, they perform DJ sets as well demonstrating a multifaceted approach despite being an instrumental band. In 2025, they released their 2nd EP, Meditation, which gained significant attention and was featured on official Spotify playlists including "Women's Voice," "New Music Wednesday," "Edge!", and "Kirakira Pop: Japan." In 2026, they released the single "Raccoon" and were featured on the cover of Spotify's official playlist "Modern Jazz Japan."
