2025年12月に結成、翌2026年1月に1stシングル「Tonight」、2月には2ndシングル「D.M.I.S.」をリリースするなど精力的な活動を続けるポップバンド・GIRLFRIENDZ。先日「D.M.I.S. (Not So Serious Remix)」がリリースされたばかりだが、オリジナル楽曲としては早くも3作目となるシングル「Romanticising The Almost」を発表した。
The Cardigansを想起させる1stシングル「Tonight」、アンセム感の強いダンサブルな2ndシングル「D.M.I.S」とは異なり、本作はHaimを彷彿とさせる軽快なポップロックナンバー。シンプルながら躍動感のあるベースライン、抜けの良いギターアレンジ、印象的なコーラスワークが光る。キャッチーで踊れる楽しさはそのままに、これまで以上にバンドサウンドを前面に打ち出した楽曲に仕上がっている。
テーマは、オンラインデーティング時代の恋愛観。
軽い関係を望むと言いながらダイヤの指輪の投稿に「いいね」を押し、「あなたは完璧」と打ち込みながら送信ボタンを押せない夜。
「あったかもしれない未来」を何度も美化し、また繰り返してしまう——そんな不甲斐なさや空虚を、GIRLFRIENDZはあっけらかんと「またやっちゃった」と歌う。
矛盾を抱えたままの生き方を、否定も肯定もしない。
その俯瞰したスタンスは、“ヘルシーな生き方”を皮肉交じりに描いた1stシングル「Tonight」から一貫している。
作詞作曲を手がけるサウンドクリエイター・Miguelの感性が、本作でも発揮されている。
アートワークは「デーティングアプリのプロフィール画面」をモチーフにBass・Ido KyoがDIYで制作。Sauna、Korean Foodと並ぶ“好きなもの”タグの横で、顔を覆いながら横たわるVocal・Mayuの姿が印象的だ。「Looking for Casual（軽い関係希望）」と表示された画面の中で、いちばん深く溺れているのは、彼女自身かもしれない。
なお、沖縄ツアーVLOG風のミュージックビデオも、Ido KyoがDIYで制作。楽曲のアイロニックなテーマと、どこか無邪気でポップな映像とのギャップも見どころとなっている。

GIRLFRIENDZは、2025年12月に結成された東京を拠点に活動するバンド。 「Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain」などのサウンドクリエイションで知られる、スペイン出身のプロデューサー・Miguelをきっかけに結成。Miguelならではの多様な音楽性により、インディ的な質感とメインストリームのアンセム感を自在に行き来し、楽曲はまるで物語を内包した映像作品のように展開されていく。“これまでかっこいいとされてきたもの”への愛を確かに持ちながらも、そこに安住することなく、一度ピリオドを打ち、新しいバイヴスへと変換する。 2026年1月、結成からわずか1ヶ月で1stシングル「Tonight」をリリースしてから、翌2月には2ndシングル「D.M.I.S.」、3月には EijiHarrisonによるリミックス「D.M.I.S. (Not So Serious Remix」を発表し、以降も毎月リリースを続けている。東京での自主企画も毎月開催。 今、最も注目されるアップカミングなバンドのひとつである。
