chabatake - tea fields -

Choji

Noagarihimachi (Noagarihimachi) is a dialect word from the former Misugi Village (Misugi Town, Tsu City, Mie Prefecture), referring to a farming holiday to take a break after rice planting and harvesting. The rice paddies, tea fields, interaction with local people, and living creatures. Choji, who moved here and cultivates rice fields himself, has written 8 songs inspired by life and activities in a Japanese farming village. 1 songs is an arrangement of a local folk song.

Performed by Choji (piano, guitar, vocals, shinobue flute), Satoshi Hara (banjo), Natsuki Kurai (harmonica), and Mari Sekine (percussion). Other local voices were also recorded at the site. The recording engineer was Shinji Kawase of Gumbo Studio. Cover design by Tatsushi Toritani. Recorded in an earthen storehouse in Misugi and at Gumbo Studio in Yokohama.
